I recently took part in a local Tree Week event as part of the National Tree Week of celebrations. This year all events had to be delivered digitally of course, hence this Zoom talk
; some ponderings on the importance part that trees play in my own art practice and for culture more widely - as well as relating some of my experience of making natural ink.
Like many other artists, I'm trying to sell work through the #artistsupportpledge - an initiative set up by artist Matthew Burrows, which offers a self-sustaining lifeline to fellow artists across the world. Artists are invited to post pictures of their works for sale for £200 or less on Instagram using the hashtag #ArtistSupportPledge. Every time an artist makes £1,000 in sales they then pledge to put back £200 by purchasing another artist's work using the hashtag. There are no rules, it is a system based on trust. All sales will go towards the £1000 total, then I will buy a piece of work by another artist for up to £200.
